An unseasonably warm weekend in Colorado Springs might bring scattered showers, meteorologists say.

The National Weather Service in Pueblo predicted highs of 72 degrees Friday, 79 degrees Saturday and 76 degrees Sunday.

Average high temperatures are 66 degrees May 5 and 6 and 67 degrees May 7, weather service data shows.

“For the weekend we’ll stay warm and a few spotty afternoon or early evening showers will be possible in the mountains and Pikes Peak Region,” according to Gazette news partner KKTV.

“Spotty is the key word,” KKTV reported. There’s “no need to cancel your outdoor plans.”

Friday is expected to be sunny, but Saturday’s sunny skies might be interrupted by a 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms begins after 3 p.m., according to the weather service. Sunday is expected to have partly sunny skies and a 20 percent of showers and thunderstorms after noon.

“Better storm chances come back to the forecast by early next week along with slightly cooler weather,” KKTV reported.
